Valenciano Dam Surveying Services Project Awarded photo

05/26/2009 Valenciano Dam Surveying Services Project Awarded

The Professional College of Engineers and Land Surveyors of Puerto Rico selected the “Surveying Studies for the Valenciano Dam & Reservoir” as the 2008 Outstanding Surveying Project. The award highlights the surveying work performed throughout the last 40 years for the design of the dam, reservoir, treatment plant, storage tanks, pumping stations, distribution lines, and the mitigation areas selected for the Reservoir at the Valenciano River. The surveying and geospatial data was gathered from a wide array of sources over the last four decades because the project was postponed several times. The methods and technologies used range from transit and tape measures to topographic surveys using LIDAR, including the use of total stations, GPS, GIS, and photogrammetry, among others. The vast effort included in integrating the information from multiple coordinates systems, datums, technologies, and methods, makes this a truly outstanding project. Congratulations to Alexis and all the professionals involved in the project.
