The severe impacts of Superstorm Sandy, which struck the northeast in late October 2012, left many families displaced, businesses shuttered, and park areas devastated. The NYC Parks Department areas in Staten Island, the Rockaways, and Coney Island were hit by strong winds that toppled more than 8,000 street trees; destroying thousands more in parks and woodlands.

Located within Mount Loretto Unique Area, Butler Manor Woods encompasses roughly 18 acres of wetlands. It is a remarkable parcel of land that truly complements and beautifies the incredible ecological diversity already found within Mount Loretto State Forest. Superstorm Sandy caused extreme devastation across parts of the area.

CSA Group was contracted as a subconsultant to KS Engineers, P.C. to provide an MEP engineering assessment, design, construction documents, bid support and construction support services for the boiler conversion, electrical service relocation, and hot water heater replacement at the Caretaker House at Butler Manor Woods Park in Staten Island.
