The Scott Rakow Youth Center (SRYC) was built in 1976 to serve the families of Miami Beach. The SRYC Renovation Project was initiated by the Mayor and City Commission in 1994 and was a part of a S15-Million Parks Bond issue which called for the expansion and renovation of the ice rink and other improvements. The Renewal of the existing facilities included comprehensive building wide renovations and upgrades. The project incorporated a new state of the art fitness center including gymnasium, multi-purpose room, weight room, and extensive outdoor play areas, with landscaping. The entire center was brought up to current ADA standards with life-safety and accessibility enhancements throughout including a new fire protection and alarm system and HVAC replacement.

The project was successfully delivered through the CM@Risk method, without errors or omissions. Only 75% of the contingencies were utilized, providing a substantial saving to the owner at the end of the project.
